Good Morning (or afternoon, or evening – wherever you are)! I trust you have had a wonderful week.
As I went about my week, I came across three little words. Just three. I posted them publicly on my Facebook page. The three little words are live, love, and matter. Yes, those. Live. Love. Matter. I’ve been giving those words a lot thought this week.
Like everyone, I’ve had some very dark times in my life. I’m human and life happens. There is so much in the world that is out of our control, and some of that stuff is just dark.
It’s the dark times that have taught me the toughest lessons. I’ve learned that I can endure. I’ve learned that I am strong. I’ve learned that I can survive. Not only have I endured, become strong, and survived, but I’ve learned the recipe to live and to thrive.
What have you learned through your own dark times? Have you used those experiences to really learn to live? Are you living? Well, of course, if you are reading this you are alive, but are you really living? I can’t tell you how to live. It’s your life, and only you know if you are really living your life well.
I need to break in here and preface that in no way am I referring to monetary or material things here. Living well is a resource and a freedom of the heart, mind, and soul and has nothing to do with money or things.
So no, I’m not going to tell you how to live. Each of us has our own journey to live well. I do suspect the components are similar though.
Are you intentional with your day and how you spend it? As I’ve said before, we all have the same number of hours in a day. It comes down to how you spend the hours. Time is our greatest and most valuable resource. Once it’s gone, you can never get it back. The clock keeps ticking onward. Are you intentional with your day?
Are you living your purpose? Now, I’m not talking about finding your passion. It’s not like you have to go out and turn up every rock until you find this thing called passion. I’m talking about your purpose. We all have something inside us, already, that we feel we need to do in life. What’s your purpose?
Have you chosen happiness? Yes. Have you chosen happiness? I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. Happiness is not something to pursue. Happiness is something you choose. You decide to be happy now. Right now. Not tomorrow. Not when you get that thing you want, but right now.
Are you grateful for all that you have in your life? Even when times are tougher and darker than others, you can find something to be grateful for within your day.
As I said before, I will not and cannot tell you how to live, but I do believe that if you are intentional with your time, doing something with or about your purpose, choosing happiness, and are grateful for all that you have in your life, you are living better than many. I’m also sure there are more components to this that I am not even touching upon, some components that mean a lot to you.
Are you loving with your whole heart? Are you really loving? Love is not reserved. We are human and we are meant to love. I love all day long. I love my family and friends. I love my pets. I love the birds that feed at the feeders. I love the valley and the mountains. I love the sunshine (even if the weather is not warm). I love. So much.
Do you love the day that you have in front of you? Do you love the moment you are in right now?
I think a lot of people don’t love the way they could, because they don’t think they are worthy or enough. Just in case no one else tells you today, I’m going to tell you now. You are worthy. You are enough. You have been born to this Earth with all you need inside you to both live and love.
Love comes from within you, and it’s completely free to give. No one can buy if from you, and it costs nothing to give. Love is whole and pure. And let’s say it…love just feels good!
It’s my opinion that if you are living and loving, you matter already. I think it can go even deeper than that.
Are you living your purpose? Are you doing the work you are meant to do? I don’t mean the job you do every day for a paycheck, but the work you are meant to do? Are you a writer? Are you an artist? Do you paint, draw or make music in some way? Do you build furniture? Are you a baker? Do you volunteer? What is it that you are meant to do? Are you doing the work that you are meant to do?
A lot of people talk about leaving a legacy. I’m not talking about a legacy. I’m talking about now. Today. The past is already gone. We can learn our lessons from the past. The future is unknown and does not exist yet, because it has not happened. Right now is all we have and all we can do something with, right? Our purpose comes from the heart, mind, and soul, and it’s meant to matter.
Live. Love. Matter.
After writing this entry today, I’ve decided that these words are going to be my focus words for 2020. Some people like to choose a focus word for the year. I’m choosing all three as a mantra.
Question of the Day: What is your word or mantra 2020 and what does it mean to you?
Now This Is Moore Like It!!
